Build Mac OS X Lion Hackintosh Laptop with Working QE / CI Graphics – Intel HD 3000 Will Work

After doing quite a bit of research into building a laptop or notebook with Mac OS X Lion and working QE / CI graphics which is crucial for a lot of great OS X software like Final Cut, Apple Logic Pro and the latest version of Adobe After Effects, I am come to the conclusion that the onboard Intel HD 3000 graphics that come with most laptops out there is a great candidate for a QE / CI capable hackintosh laptop.

Mac OS X Hackintosh Almost Usesless Unless QE/CI Graphics Working

If you are going to embark on the journey of installing a Mac OS X hackintosh OSX86 distribution on your PC laptop or PC desktop hardware, you should know that if the graphics adapter you have or plan to get is not compatible or doesn’t have a “kext” drivers for Mac OS X QE / CI graphics acceleration then you should stop right away and save your energy.  Trust me I have been down this road.

Avoid Intel GMA 4500 Laptops / Notebook, It Doesn’t Support QE / CI Graphic Acceleration – Not Good For Hackintosh Laptop Install

I recently purchased an HP 620 laptop for a family member. It had an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, 4GB of RAM however the graphic adapter was an integrated Intel GMA 4500.
I originally thought that this laptop would be a great candidate for a Hackintosh Mac OS X install, but I was dead wrong. It seems that the Intel GMA 4500, 4500x, 4500 HD integrated video for laptops / notebooks does not support QE / CI at all, there is absolutely no kext (driver) for it for either Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.x or Snow Leopard.10.6.x.

MacOSXonPC.com believes that people shouldn't pay such high prices for Apple computer hardware with such low hardware specifications, when you are able to take advantage of the stability and ease of use of the Mac OS X operating system with affordable and powerful PC hardware. Ask yourself, if you can build a powerful Quad Core Intel CPU computer with 4 GB of RAM, and powerful NVidia Graphics running Mac OS X Leopard natively for less than $500 why wouldn't you? A similar specification from Apple for a Mac Pro desktop starts at $2499 on the Apple website.
